WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. Overall, I liked this episode. We really got to understand many characters on a far deeper level than we had previously as the episode had tons of character development. It felt like a more serious and emotional episode rather than being mainly humorous, though there was some humor as well. As usual, the humorous parts of the episode were well done and relied heavily on the unique, and often ridiculous, personalities of the characters.
It was quite nice to see much of Emilia’s past. Her past felt very emotional and sad and was quite well done. It was also nice to see just why she hates Satan so much. Satan’s response to this was also quite well done and it was nice to see how Satan actually apologized for his past actions and admitted he didn’t understand humans in the past. It clearly seems Satan has moved on from his villainous ways. I am also really wondering if Satan had good intentions with his original war he waged. I hope we will see more of his motives for his past actions later.
These emotional parts have another advantage and that is they make the storyline feel deeper and more significant. Even though this is a comedy show, the fact that we see the character’s feelings deep down still helps to strengthen the show as well as make it more memorable. It also helps to develop the characters and make us understand what they are going through. It is good that the show is not just constant laughter but has some seriousness, emotions, and weight added as well.
I notice there is also some love drama building involving Chi, which is quite nice. It seems Chi and Satan are on a path to being together. It helps to strengthen their relationship and add to the emotional feel of the relationship by having some ups and downs. I am looking forward to seeing how their relationship grows.
Also, I found myself rather confused with how the landlord fits into all of this. She seems to know something about magic and the magical nature of the characters. I am curious to see what reveals we get about her later.
As for Lucifer, I am so far liking him as a villain. He seems quite cocky, arrogant, overconfident, powerful, and rather crazy. Something tells me this combination will be very humorous and fun and make him a very enjoyable villain going forward. I am looking forward to getting to know him as a character.
